Trauma

Recovery

You don’t have to keep living in survival mode

Trauma can affect how safe we feel, how we relate to others and how we see ourselves. You may feel constantly on alert, overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious or find yourself avoiding situations and relationships.

Sometimes you know exactly where these feelings come from. At other times, you simply know that something from the past is still affecting your life today.

Trauma therapy is not about forcing you to relive what happened. It is about helping you feel safer, understand your responses and regain a sense of choice and control.

Trauma can take on many forms

I work with adults and young people who have experienced childhood trauma, sexual abuse and violence, grooming and exploitation, domestic abuse, relationship trauma, traumatic loss, bullying, PTSD and complex trauma.

You don't need to have a diagnosis of PTSD or even describe your experience as "trauma" to seek support.

How trauma can show up

Trauma can appear as anxiety, panic, intrusive memories, emotional overwhelm, shutting down, difficulties with trust, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, shame or feeling constantly unsafe.

Understanding why your mind and body respond this way can be an important part of recovery.

My Approach

I offer a trauma-informed, integrative approach, adapted to you and your experiences.

We may begin by helping you understand triggers, regulate overwhelming emotions and feel safer and more grounded. From there, we can explore experiences and patterns at a pace that feels manageable.

You remain in control of what we talk about and how quickly we proceed.

Complex trauma

Trauma doesn't always come from one event. Repeated experiences in childhood, relationships or other unsafe environments can affect our sense of identity, safety and connection with others.

Recovery doesn't mean forgetting what happened. It can mean reaching a point where the past no longer has the same control over your present.

Trauma and neurodivergence

Trauma can look different for people with ADHD or autism. Experiences of being misunderstood, criticised, bullied, excluded or masking for many years can have a significant emotional impact.

My specialist knowledge of ADHD, autism and trauma allows us to understand these experiences together rather than treating them as separate issues.

Not sure which pathway is right for you?

You don’t need to know exactly what kind of support you need before getting in touch.

We can talk about what you are experiencing, what feels difficult right now, and what you would like to change.

Together, we can consider which approach may feel most helpful for you.

You do not need to have a formal diagnosis to work with me.
